How It Started
Gratefully accepted a volunteer opportunity offered by the design systems team.
This project provided a comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end process in developing and implementing a scalable design system component at Salesforce. It was an enlightening journey of collaboration with the design systems team, enhancing my grasp of design principles, adaptability, and teamwork in a corporate setting.

Conducted comprehensive research across all Salesforce sites to understand how the combobox component was being utilized in various contexts. Started an in-depth audit of these use cases to identify different scenarios and requirements that needed to be considered in the design process.

In this phase of the project, I concentrated on identifying all potential edge cases for the combobox component, ensuring a seamless and non-disruptive user experience. This involved close collaboration with engineers to assess technical feasibility.
Simultaneously, I developed comprehensive usage guidelines for the combobox, detailing the dos and don'ts. This required a deep understanding of how the component would be employed by other designers, accommodating a range of experience levels, and ensuring clarity, especially for those unfamiliar with comboboxes.
Identifying Edge Cases & Creating Usage Guidelines

Wrapping up, a huge shoutout to the design systems team for their amazing support and giving me this shot. It was a great way to meet designers from all over and getting their take on things. This whole experience was a fantastic deep dive into seeing how a component works in scale, and it definitely opened up my way of thinking —Loved every bit of it!
